Privacy
Alleasing respects our customers' privacy and recognises that their privacy is very important to them. We aim to keep personal information confidential unless otherwise authorised. We have a privacy policy which applies the rules under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) including the National Privacy Principles. Our policy for dealing with any personal information that might be disclosed to us is explained below.
Our website
The extent and type of information we receive from a person depends on what they do when they visit our website. Someone can generally visit our website without telling us who they are or revealing other personal information. We will not collect any personal information about them except when it is knowingly provided. If someone is simply browsing, reading or downloading documents, certain information will be gathered for statistical and security purposes. This information will not identify the person. The information gathered when someone browses on our website includes:
- the server address;
- the date and time of the visit;
- the pages accessed during the visit and the documents downloaded;
- the previous website visited before visiting our site (if that site referred you to our site via a hyperlink); and
- the type of browser used.
Email addresses which are provided will not be automatically added to a mailing list. If personal information is provided to us, for example in a finance application, we will keep a record of it and will take all reasonable steps to keep that information secure.
Cookies
Cookies are small pieces of data stored on the user's computer hard drive when a website is accessed. It allows the website to recognise the computer when it returns to the website in the future. A cookie, by itself, cannot identify the person using the computer; it can only identify the computer. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. Settings on a computer may be set up to refuse cookies or to alert that cookies are being sent.
At Alleasing, we employ both session cookies and persistent cookies on our website. Session cookies are short lived, are used only during a browsing session, and expire when the person visiting the website quits his or her browser. Persistent cookies are stored on the user's computer and may be used to track his or her browsing behaviour when they return. If personal information has been submitted to us, cookies may avoid the need to ask for personal information all over again during the next visit. We use cookies so that visits to our website will be easier and faster for our customers.
Collection of personal information
The main way we collect personal information on our website is when our site is used to request a quote or to apply for finance. The personal information we collect from customers may include the customer's full name, date of birth, phone and fax numbers, e-mail address, street and postal address, and certain other information that will allow us to process the application. We only collect personal information via our website with our customer's consent. There is a button provided to submit that information to us.
Use of personal information
We will only use our customer's personal information for the purpose for which he or she has provided it. For example, if a customer has applied for finance, we will use his or her personal information to assess application including credit worthiness. This will involve carrying out credit checks. It may also mean that information will be supplied to our bankers or funders (who are also bound by the National Privacy Principles) for the purpose of funding the finance contract.
We may, from time to time, send out information on related finance products provided by Alleasing and its related companies. This will not involve disclosing personal information to a third party.
We will not use a customer's personal information for any other purpose, nor will we disclose it to any other third party, unless with the customer's consent or in other circumstances where such use or disclosure is permitted under the Privacy Act (for example where legally required in the investigation of a criminal offence, or in compliance with a subpoena).
Security
Alleasing endeavours to make sure that all personal information is safe and secure. We provide a secure environment by using Secure Sockets Layer 3.0 (SSL). This establishes a session, encrypts all information that is input before being sent to us, and it protects that data as it travels over the internet. As long as the user's browser shows its secure mode symbol, such as a key or closed lock on the bottom of the screen, the information transmitted is secure.
Customers should also keep their personal information secure by maintaining confidentiality of their user name, password, customer number and contract numbers. If a customer believes that there has been any unauthorised use of their user name or any other breach of security, please advise us immediately.
Accuracy of information
When a customer provides information to us, we rely on the accuracy of that information. If a customer thinks that any information we hold about them is inaccurate, please contact us at hotline@alleasing.com.au or call 1300 134 214 (Australia) or 0800 472 633 (NZ) and we will take all reasonable steps to make sure it is corrected.
Openness and access to your personal information
We give our customers access to the personal information we hold about them on request. Please contact us at hotline@alleasing.com.au or call 1300 134 214 (Australia) or 0800 472 633 (NZ).
